Humanitarian Response

We are at the forefront of saving children’s lives whenever disasters strike.

In any crisis, children suffer the most.

For the last 40 years, Save the Children has been helping children recover from the impacts of disasters and armed conflict in the Philippines.

Even after the cameras and world press have left, we stay behind to provide long-term support such as education and livelihoods, and build up community resilience to reduce the impact of future disasters.

With almost a century of experience in humanitarian response, Save the Children has built its expertise in providing life-saving assistance to children and families affected by disasters and conflict.

We ensure that the most vulnerable people have access to shelter, clean water, food, education, and healthcare. We ensure that children are protected at all times.

Save the Children tackles both the causes and the effects that humanitarian emergencies have on children and their families.

In the aftermath of a disaster, we help people recover – supporting them as they rebuild their lives and ensuring they are better prepared for future disasters.

We also ensure that girls and boys are able to voice out their needs and concerns during emergency situations, and give feedback on the humanitarian services that they receive to help government and other humanitarian actors, including Save the Children, to improve the quality of their humanitarian response programs and services.

Preparedness, Risk Reduction and Resiliency Building

We carry out programs on Preparedness, Risk Reduction and Resilience Building in different parts of the country.

We also train children on what to do before, during, and after disasters.

We also collaborate with national and local governments in implementing existing laws related to disaster risk reduction and protection of children during emergencies.
