Is it possible to change the lives of 1 million children?

It sounds tough, but we can – if we’re united.

This is what Save the Children’s partnership with GSK stands for.

Together, we're delivering life-saving and life-changing programs to Filipino children.

Reaching out

In the Philippines, not all children are enjoying their childhood as they should.

Until today, poor nutrition remains a problem among several families. In fact, 1 in 3 Filipino children is stunted or too short for one’s age.

Stunting is a type of malnutrition. It delays both body and brain development.

As a result, stunted children are more likely to struggle in class. They’re either missing school for being too sickly, or are having a hard time absorbing lessons.

Without proper intervention, malnutrition could haunt a child throughout adulthood – interfering with their health, education, and even future careers.

At worst, malnutrition could cut a child’s life short.

What will happen to the Philippines then, in the years to come?

Orange United

Since 2013, GSK has been raising funds for Save the Children’s health and education programs through Orange United.

Orange United is a week-long fundraising activity held by GSK employees worldwide.

In the Philippines, GSK managed to raise P250,000 in a matter of 5 days.

GSK employees proved that fundraising can be fun through various activities like cake raffles, photoshoots, a fun run event, food sales, a film screening, and a talent contest.

By the end of the year, GSK aims to reach half a million pesos of total donation from various employee fundraising initiatives.

Additional funds will come from SpareBucks4Change, Save the Children’s workplace giving program.

The process is quick, voluntary, and hassle-free.

Companies like GSK partnered with us to carry out SpareBucks4Change

The donations help us fund various programs for children across the Philippines.

“We are interested in partnerships like this that will deliver sustainable, scalable, and innovative solutions,” said Lynn Baxter, General Manager of GSK Philippines.

“This is not just a one-time donation. It’s about a long term, strategic and meaningful partnership,” Baxter said, explaining SpareBucks4Change.

“Save the Children is well-established, operates with transparency, and its values are very much aligned with the values we have in GSK,” she continued.

We at Save the Children are proud and thankful of such meaningful partnerships which aim to change the lives of children, for the better.

In the years to come, we hope to partner with more like-minded organizations.

Together, we can do more to save the children!
