Corporate Partners' Day 2021

Liza Soberano, Katarina Rodriguez, Xia Vigor and Ria Atayde lead powerhouse recognition of Save the Children corporate partners

Partnerships between the private sector and the country’s leading child rights organization Save the Children Philippines have continuously generated positive social impact to the most marginalized children and their families in the last 40 years.

“The spirit of partnership is something we are definitely thankful for, as it shows how big of an impact we can make if we all work together. The leadership and active participation of our partners are crucial in accelerating progress for children and creating a lasting change in their lives,” said Atty. Alberto Muyot, Chief Executive Officer of Save the Children Philippines.

To commemorate the vital role of the business sector to Save the Children Philippines’ lifesaving work for and with children, celebrity ambassadors Liza Soberano, Katarina Rodriguez, Xia Vigor, and Ria Atayde led the awarding of certificates of recognition and merit to the corporate partners of the child rights organization on its annual Corporate Partners’ Day held recently online.

Soberano, who is an entrepreneur herself, expressed gratitude to corporate partners in behalf of Save the Children.

“Thank you for your time, effort, and all the generosity you have been showing to children and Save the Children. I hope that you can continue on blessing all of these children who are facing such difficult times due to COVID-19 and whatever they are going through. We are very grateful for your support and we hope that we could continue that support until the end of time,” said Soberano.

With the theme “Saving Lives through Partnerships,” child actress Xia Vigor acknowledged the importance of grant funders, corporate fundraisers, campaign supporters, COVID-19 and emergency response donors, gift-in-kind partners, and media supporters.

“After hearing about the fear, sadness, and stress that children face during this time, I’m relieved that organizations such as Save the Children work to continuously protect their physical, mental and emotional wellbeing with the help and support of its corporate partners,” said Vigor.

Merit awards were bestowed to partners Cargill, Johnson & Johnson Philippines, Inc., Mars Wrigley Foundation, Marriott Worldwide Business Councils Philippines, Google, GSK Philippines, Microsoft, CVC Capital Partners, Cummins, GCash, QBE Foundation, Toolbox Creative Designs, Inc., Philippine Oppo Mobile Technology, and Smart Communications – citing length of partnership, unique contribution to transforming children’s lives, and amount of support.

“We are truly grateful for the partnership with Save the Children Philippines throughout the years as we are one with them in sharing their global vision. We trust their expertise in ensuring that help is really accorded to those who need it the most,” said Chito Maniago, Vice President for Public Affairs and Corporate Communications of GCash. In 2020, GCash mounted a highly successful public campaign to generate funds to respond to Typhoons Rolly and Ulysses.

As natural disasters, conflicts, and emergencies continue to threaten millions of Filipino children’s lives and well-being every year, Save the Children Philippines introduced its newest fundraising initiative Fund to SAVE (Secure Access to Vital Emergency resources) which will allow Save the Children to immediately mobilize staff and resources to respond to an emergency, ensuring timely action.

“The first 24 to 48 hours following a disaster are critical. What we do during those first hours could mean life or death for those most affected. The faster that we can respond to disasters, the more lives we can save,” said Atayde who joined Save the Children’s humanitarian response for the victims of Typhoons Rolly and Ulysses in Catanduanes last March 2021.

Save the Children Philippines’ Corporate Advisory Council was also launched officially. It is comprised of industry leaders Kunio Senga, Boris Joaquin, Belle Tiongco, and Paolo Arevalo who will provide strategic directions to strengthen engagement with corporate partners to achieve even greater impact for children.

“It is always so inspiring to hear about industry leaders who have a passion and commitment for helping children. With their help, we look forward to continue working with local and global corporations to expand our programs for children,” said Miss World Philippines 2018 Katarina Rodriguez.

“Together, we are well on our way towards reaching our breakthroughs for children that they survive, learn from quality education, and are protected from all forms of violence. Our corporate partners have made this challenging and difficult mission, possible,” said Naida Pasion, Chief Business Development Officer of Save the Children Philippines.
