Miss Universe Philippines

Pageantry with a Heart for Children.

Miss Universe Philippines works side-by-side with Save the Children Philippines to deliver children’s rights.

It’s not merely pageantry nor just a competition. It empowers its followers, especially the youth, to work hard to pursue their dreams and be the best that they can be. This is the essence of Miss Universe Philippines.

In 2021, the Miss Universe Philippines organization partnered with Save the Children Philippines to help ensure a promising future for children. The partnership addressed the vital issues of children’s hunger. Because of the pandemic, poverty rates have risen, resulting in increased hunger among children.

In February 2022, the Miss Universe Philippines organization renewed its partnership with Save the Children Philippines and turned over Php 107,000, which provided 100 children with one month of nutritious meals and an assessment of their nutritional status.

Lia Andrea Ramos, Miss Universe Philippines Head of Women Empowerment & Charity, cites: “We decided to partner with Save the Children Philippines, the largest independent international children’s organization in the world. We recognize that health and nutrition are areas that need our attention, especially during this time of pandemic. We are happy that the proceeds of the subscriptions to this year’s pageant went to the life-saving cause of assisting young children receive the nutrition they need.”

Save the Children Philippines CEO, Atty. Alberto Muyot, says, “The issue of hunger and malnutrition in the country is a massive problem, worsened by the pandemic. Huge problems require the collective efforts of many, that is why we are pleased to partner with Miss Universe Philippines. This is a key moment to step-up to protect this generation of Filipino children.”

In June 2022, Miss Universe Philippines 2022 Celeste Cortesi and Miss Universe Philippines Charity 2022 Pauline Amelinckx visited Save the Children Philippines’ nutrition programs in Samar and met children and families being supported by the organization. Please watch this video to see highlights of their visit to Samar:

To celebrate National Children’s Month in November 2022, Celeste, Pauline, and Miss Universe Philippines 1st Runner Up Annabelle McDonnel also visited Save the Children Philippines’ programs in Marawi City and Marantao, Lanao del Sur. The visit was highlighted by a luncheon for the “Life Changer for Children” program of Save the Children.

Save the Children believes every child deserves a future. Its partnership with Miss Universe Philippines certainly moves children closer to a brighter future.
