Poverty and disasters impact children’s lives, testing the limits and compassion of people, which has made us need one another more than ever. In particular, studies have shown that support from caring adults can safeguard children from the despair of poverty.

Following this, Save the Children invites you to be part of this support system through a letter-writing activity that aims to show children that there are people out there who care for them. An online letter-writing session will be facilitated and the completed letters will be packed with emergency kits that will be delivered to children’s communities.

Children with disabilities are among the most excluded and marginalized owing to the multiple barriers they face in their environment, intensified when they live in poverty. Save the Children seeks to promote awareness of the rights of children with disabilities—particularly visually impaired children.

In line with this, we are offering an activity for employees that will orient them about Child Safeguarding, Children’s rights, and the issue of disability. They will also be introduced to the Mobility and Technique experience, followed by a safety walk where they will gain a better understanding of what it is like to be visually impaired.

Save the Children has been addressing the mental health and psychological well-being of the most vulnerable children and parents or caregivers by improving their access to mental health and psychological support interventions. This is done with the provision of psycho-social support (PSS) kits to service providers that will be used to train parents on how to practice these activities at home with their children.

In support of this, we are inviting you to volunteer and make puppets for children that will be included in the PSS kits. Puppets will be designed based on book characters, each participant will ideally make two (2) puppets. The event will be facilitated by Save the Children.

As the world is getting back to a new normal, more in-person interactions and activities are being allowed as long as safety protocols are observed. With this, we are able to open opportunities for children to enjoy their right to play.

This Children’s Month, we are pleased to work with our partners in having “Palarong Pambata” which will provide opportunities for children to have fun through simple games or sports. This half-day event will be community-based and participants will be made up of children, guardians, employees, and Save the Children staff.

Save the Children’s education programs employ different approaches in addressing the difficulties of learners in the Philippines as well as ensuring that there is awareness of children’s rights especially the right to education and protection. A tangible intervention has been the provision of learning materials like books for children.

To complement this, we are offering a bookmark-making employee engagement activity. Bookmarks may be designed from an inspirational quote or a key message from the book it will go with. Family members may also join the bookmark-making session with the option to include a letter with their puppets.

Save the Children invites you to participate in a Hackathon, a teamwork encounter to help Save the Children address a challenge. This event is serves as a form of skills-based volunteerism where employees leverage their professional expertise to diagnose critical challenges facing Save the Children and provide solutions on how to address these challenges.
