Save the Children Philippines is launching its “HOPE Online” fundraising project with popular celebrities and personalities sharing time and talent to help sustain the online learning needs and safety of children during the COVID-19 health crisis.
“Humanity as One. Protecting. Educating.” or HOPE is an ONLINE event running over three weeks every Saturday, beginning August 15th which coincides with the week of the Humanitarian Day global celebration and will culminate on the eve of National Heroes Day.
Save the Children Philippines ambassadors Katarina Rodriguez, Xia Vigor, and Ria Atayde will host the event series which will all be streamed live on Save the Children Philippines’ Facebook page.
HOPE Online will feature celebrities and guests showcasing entertaining song and dance acts, brief webinars, learning sessions for all ages, storytelling, interviews, games, and messages of hope for children.
The first episode will be graced by singers Gian Magdangal, Lara Maigue, Krystal Brimner, veteran actress Susan Africa, Yam Concepcion, Bettina Carlos, Chantal Videla, young artists Yesha Camille and Sam Shoaf, dancer Danya Maigue, and entrepreneurs Kakki Teodoro and Janice Villanueva of Mommy Mundo with the Storytelling Project group. Asia’s Nightingale Lani Misalucha and other premier celebrities will also be joining in the next episodes.
“In this time of pandemic, let us all bring out the hero in us and help the children, especially those in the marginalized and deprived sectors of society, as well as those who will miss out school or have no access to online education, to continue to learn, survive, and be protected,” said Atty. Alberto Muyot, Chief Executive Officer of Save the Children Philippines.
“Your generosity, through our HOPE Online project, will help us raise funds to provide educational supplies, age-specific learning modules, and digital devices for some 7,300 learners from poor communities in Caloocan, Navotas, Malabon, the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) and Eastern Samar,” said Muyot.
HOPE Online is sponsored by Britpart, a fellow champion for education, and supported by OPPO Philippines for the benefit of Save the Children’s Project ARAL (Access to Resource for Alternative Learning) to bridge learning continuity gaps amid COVID-19.
