In celebration of the National Arts Month, Save the Children Philippines together with ARTipolo will hold a group art exhibit titled “heARTbeat” on Sunday, February 16, 5 pm at the Café Lupe restaurant in Antipolo City.
At least 52 artists who are members of ARTipolo will showcase their masterpieces at the exhibit that runs until April 17. Part of the proceeds of sold artworks will benefit Save the Children Philippines.
Save the Children Philippines ambassador Katarina Rodriguez will be one of the guests at the opening of ARTipolo group exhibit.
Atty. Alberto Muyot, Chief Executive Officer of Save the Children Philippines welcomed the partnership with ARTipolo, a group known for its passion in visual arts and programs to instill creativity among children.
“Save the Children is deeply honored to partner with ARTipolo,” said Muyot. “ARTipolo shares the advocacy of Save the Children to reach the most deprived and marginalized children.
Pol Mesina Jr., President of ARTipolo said the group holds art sessions for street children that include lessons in basic drawing and painting, coloring, pastel and water color.
The group also provides free art lessons to children in conflict with the law, and sexually abused children through charity institutions.
“Art is an important tool for self-expression among children including those with disabilities,” said Mesina. Children with autism spectrum disorder developed confidence and passion for painting after ARTipolo gave free art lessons to them through an institution, he said.
Naida Pasion, chief business development officer of Save the Children Philippines called for support from art enthusiasts to bring home a masterpiece and help ensure lasting change for the most deprived and marginalized children including those in Antipolo.
Save the Children Philippines will implement the Bright Start Project in three barangays in Antipolo covering the indigenous families of the Dumagat tribe. The project provides services to parents and caregivers of children zero to three years old to learn responsive caregiving, early learning and safety and security.
Among the ARTipolo members who will showcase their artworks at the group exhibit include: Pol Mesina Jr., Jerry Contridas, Nelson Dela Cruz, Carol Mencias Alay-ay, Eleanor Robleza, Dyna Quizon-Ondoy, Marie Claire De Chavez and Jun Vicaldo.
