Got your dancing shoes on?
On July 8, employees of GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) Philippines came together to save children. Wearing bright orange shirts, they danced for hours on end, braving even the rain.
The “dance-a-thon” is part of GSK’s Orange United Week global celebration, which gives employees the chance to support a good cause.
Since 2013, GSK and Save the Children have been working together through its Orange United partnership. The two organizations have a 5-year strategic global partnership, combining their expertise, resources, and influences to improve children’s health.
The dance-a-thon raised over P260,000 through ticket and shirt sales. “The Philippines is the first among all GSK offices worldwide to hold a dance-a-thon for Orange United Week,” said Jan Tanchi, GSK associate human resources manager. “We want to lend a hand in any way we can.”
All proceeds will be used to support Save the Children’s health programs. Aside from dancing for children, GSK employees also continue to sign up as individual Save the Children donors, raising even more funds for children.
In the past three years, this partnership has trained more than 300 community health workers. These health workers are at the frontlines of delivering life-saving services to parents and children.
Our program has reached over 60,000 individuals in Mindanao. We have also created a ripple effect, as the trained health workers and parents are sharing their knowledge with others – inspiring even more communities to prioritize maternal and infant health.

Sharing
As part of our partnership, GSK appointed “Change Ambassadors,” who are in charge of promoting Save the Children’s programs among its employees.
Change Ambassadors also encourage GSK employees to sign up for Save the Children’s groundbreaking #SpareBucks4Change campaign, which allows employees to donate a portion of their monthly salary. At this even alone, 50 GSK employees joined the #SpareBucks4Change campaign.
#SpareBucks4Change donations support Save the Children’s programs on child poverty, health and nutrition, education and trainings, emergencies, child protection and child rights governance.
Save the Children also accepts volunteers from GSK through the Pulse Volunteer Partnership, wherein GSK covers the cost for a management level staff member to add capacity to their chosen non-profit organization. For the fourth year running, Save the Children has a volunteer currently on staff working to improve our efforts to make a better world for children.
